Build the knowledge you need to step into a Class 2 driving role, while also learning how to manage work time and stay compliant with logbook requirements.
This bundled course brings together Class 2 licence theory and fatigue management in one clear, practical programme. It is designed to help you understand both how to operate a Class 2 vehicle safely, and how to manage your hours on the road.
Training can be delivered at a Vertical Horizonz (VHNZ) specialist training centre, or at a client location where suitable facilities are available.
At the successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Identify vehicle types, vehicle weights, and Class 2 licence requirements.
- Carry out pre-start checks and identify the purpose of basic vehicle systems.
- Explain safe loading practices and how load position affects vehicle stability.
- Demonstrate an understanding of road positioning, braking techniques, and hazard awareness.
- Identify the legal responsibilities of a Class 2 driver.
- Understand how work time and rest time rules apply to drivers.
- Complete a driver logbook in accordance with legal requirements.
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of fatigue.
- Apply practical strategies to manage fatigue on the job.
Our courses can include both practical and theory components. A suitable level of reading, writing, and an understanding of spoken and written English is required. Please contact us before your course if you have any concerns or additional needs. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
- Hold a current Class 2 Learners license
- Hold a full Class 1 (full) car licence for at least six months
- 1 day Logbook & Fatigue Management
- 1 day Class 2 Licence theory
- 1 day Practical training and assessment
