AFFCO Whanganui – Certificate in Construction Pre-Trade Programme. This 5-day pilot programme was successfully completed with trainee’s learning new skills to enhance their health and safety knowledge. The feedback from HSR’s and Supervisors attending, was that they found the course to be empowering. Risk assessment and legislative topics created some great discussion sessions that they can clearly relate to their industry and environment. Providing tools to assist in some positive changes was a key out-take. The practical training was really enjoyed; effective communication, problem solving and fault checking their peers for unsafe practices, giving encouragement and support for each other. Teaching these soft skills is immensely beneficial and fundamental to building successful teams.
