This programme includes a challenge assessment aligned to the Certificate of Competence required by industry and this qualification.
Graduates of this programme will be able to:
- Prepare, inspect, and use rigging equipment and tools; and use common knots in rigging, and report equipment faults, when setting-up and controlling, movement of loads.
- Apply knowledge of risk management, slinging calculations, and industry recognised communication methods to direct and guide crane movements in relation to loads and equipment.
- Lift and place loads as part of a rigging team.
- Use elevated work platforms (EWPs) and report faults and damage of EWPs.
- Act on instructions, communicate within a team when setting up and controlling the movement of loads, and complete basic documentation.
- Maintain personal safety while working at heights, including the set up and use of fall arrest systems in accordance with health and safety legislation and the best practice guidelines for rigging systems.

Trainees must complete a final challenge (capstone) assessment that aligns with the Rigging Certificate of Competence.
