PURPOSE

This course is designed to provide trainees with an understanding of the processes involved in workplace incident investigation and the opportunity to produce an incident investigation report based on a documented incident.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

On completion of this eLearning course trainees will be able to:

  • Explain why workplace accidents need to be reported and investigated.
  • Explain the concepts of multiple causation and root-cause analysis.
  • Detail an incident investigation process using a hypothetical incident.
  • Produce an incident investigation report based on a documented incident.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is for people who may be involved in conducting or assisting in health and safety incident investigations.

This course is required for the VHNZ Health and Safety Representative (Stage Two) course. It also provides credits toward VHNZ’s New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Level 3).

Delivery via eLearning with support from an experienced trainer.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Following completion of this online course, learners will be required to submit a health and safety investigation report which will contribute to the final assessment.
