People accredited with these unit standards are able to demonstrate knowledge of:

• Asbestos and associated health risks.
• The range of safety procedures to follow when asbestos is present.
• Measures to protect people doing asbestos-related work against asbestos exposure risk.

After successfully completing this course, the learner will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of asbestos and associated health risk.
• Demonstrate knowledge of measures to control respiratory risk for people doing asbestos-related work.

This course is delivered face-to-face by an experienced trainer.

This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in construction. This unit standard is for people whose work may bring them into contact with asbestos.

The VHNZ course is designed for individuals engaged in unlicensed asbestos work – those working with bonded (non-friable) asbestos in small quantities.
